Share a Skill
Students will share a skill and teach it to the class in Chinese.
The skill can be how to draw a fish, how to play a song on a ukulele, how to tie a knot/bandanna, how to make a sandwich, how to do a dance, etc. Think of something fun and simple. You will need to demonstrate it in front of the class, and give clear verbal instructions in Chinese.
Step 1: Submit your idea in English for teacher to approve;
Step 2: Script
Write a clear instruction in English and translate them into Chinese;
Revise your Chinese script with your teacher;
Step 3: Choose some high frequency words (5-8) in your script to teach to your audience.
You will teach the high frequency vocabulary to the audience before your demonstration.
Step 4: Plan your demonstration
You can do it in front of the class and ask everyone to follow;
You can pre-record it and send the video to the teacher;
Step 5: memorize your script and practice your demonstration.
Step 6: Present
Pre-teach the high frequency vocabulary and prepare your audience in English;
Demontrate the skill and teach it in Chinese.
Example: Learn to tie a Chinese Good Luck knot.
Idea: Tie a Chinese Good Luck knot
Materials: Strings (Purchase ahead of time), scissor
Instruction in English:
To begin with, fold the strings like this.
Then, fold the bottom strings up. Leave a small space.
Then, fold the left strings to the right.
Then, fold the top strings downwards.
Finally, put the right strings through the loop in the beginning.
Pull them tight. There you go. The most difficult part is done.
Next, repeat the same thing again.
Finally, pull the loops on the four edges and tighten the whole knot.

Instructions in Chinese (revise with Mrs. Diamond):
首先，把绳子折成这样。
然后，把下面的绳子往上折，留一点小空间。
然后，把左边的绳子往右折。
然后，把上面的绳子往下折。
最后，把右边的绳子穿过最先的圈。
拉紧，就好了。最难的部分就完成了。
然后，重复刚才的动作。
最后，把四个边上的圈拉出来，拉紧整个结。

Show your audience your whole script in Chinese and leave it on the screen.
Demontrate the skill and teach it in Chinese.
